Shiva Texyarn Launches Medic Virostat Mask at Rs 49

Shiva Texyarn, a Coimbatore-based, leading player in the technical textile market, has launched an Anti-Viral Anti-Bacterial reusable protective mask ‘Medic Virostat’ at a price of Rs 49.

The mask comes in four colors and in two sizes with price ranging from Rs 49-69 MRP. The mask is highly protective with more than 99 percent viral inactivation rate and barrier properties also. The mask can be washed minimum three times and re worn with the same level of protection. There is no toxic chemical in the mask and the testing for the same has been done in various National and International labs. Shiva Texyarn has also received ISO18184 certification for the anti-viral effect.

As the number of people infected with the novel coronavirus in India crosses 700,000 comes the news that Shiva Texyarn Ltd, a Coimbatore-based textile company, has developed a mask that can deactivate the virus.

On July 7, the company launched the first anti-viral mask under the name Medic Virostat.

K S Sundararaman, the company's managing director, explains how the mask functions, to Shobha Warrier/Rediff.com.

Coimbatore-based Shiva Texyarn, a leading player in the technical textile space, has introduced Medic Virostat — a reusable protective mask.

“While wearing a mask has become mandatory, not many understand the functional aspect of a mask. We want to educate people about wearing a protective face gear with anti-viral, anti-bacterial properties. Wearing a mere cloth mask won’t do,” says KS Sundararaman, Managing Director, Shiva Texyarn.

Shiva Texyarn, which has partnered HeiQ Materials AG, unveiled masks with anti-viral coating under the brand ‘Medic Virostat.’ K.S. Sundararaman, MD, Shiva Texyarn, told the media here the masks will be introduced across Indiaand sold online and offline. The masks have an outer fabric that has an anti-viral coating (HeiQ Viroblock NP J03), the middle layer is a protective barrier, and the inner layer is cotton fabric. Priced between ₹49 and ₹79 each, the products come in two sizes. They can be washed three times.
